The Challenges We Face
Democracy in Crisis
70% of elected offices go uncontested, with Republicans winning 80% of those. Over 2,500 U.S. counties have fewer than 100,000 people, often with no independent media.
A thriving democracy needs competition.
Economic Inequality
The top 1% of Americans hold over 12x the wealth of the bottom 50% combined, who own just 2.5% of the nation’s wealth.
A healthy economy needs equal opportunity.
Government Imbalance
23 states have Republican trifecta governments, 15 Democratic, and 12 divided. Many states will be disproportionately harmed by current policies.
